What made you choose a career in your field?
I’ve always been very intrigued by how technology works and how to build it. Hence, I chose engineering as my field of study. As I explored further, I realized that one of today’s biggest challenges is sustainability. That led me to pursue Sustainable Energy Engineering at KTH. Now, I work with Alminica, focusing on integrating sustainability into the silicon carbide manufacturing process and creating business value through sustainable practices.

Briefly tell us about your workplace and describe a typical day at work/school/internship.
I mostly work from home, with some travel when needed. My days are quite dynamic ; I meet with potential collaborators, go through technical documents, and work on environmental impact calculations. A big part of my work is researching how we can make the silicon carbide manufacturing process more sustainable and exploring how digitalization can play a role in achieving that. It’s a mix of technical problem-solving, collaboration, and continuous learning.

What did you do to get the job you have today?
I hold a master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering from KTH, which equipped me with the technical knowledge needed for this role. In addition, I’ve gained hands-on experience working with startups and have participated in programs like Ideate offered by SSE Business Lab and KTH Innovation. These experiences gave me a more practical understanding of how to develop sustainability from a business value perspective. I also made great use of networking opportunities ; it was actually through one of those events that I met Mikael, which eventually led me to this job.

What do you like best about your work?

I liked mathematics a lot.

If you could choose your education again, would you choose the one you have taken or something else? Why? Why not?
Yes, I believe sustainability is one of the major challenges facing the world today, and there is a growing need for talent in this field.

Is there anything from your education that you have found very useful in your current job?

What advice would you give to young people who want to pursue a career in the space field?
Stay curious, be genuinely passionate about what you do, and always try to see things from different perspectives. For instance, if you’re a technical person, don’t just focus on the technology—also consider how it fits into the business and creates real-world value.
